Is it the End of the World, the gateway to a New Age, the Center of Time, the dawning of the Age of Aquarius, or just another Comet Kahoutek story? It is definitely a rare astronomical alignment, being the December Solstice Sun in line with the Galactic Center of our Milky Way Galaxy.
Cosmically, the solstice/galactic center alignment phase of the precessional cycle exemplified by this is happening now, it is not a single point, rather a 30 or so year period: "Era 2012". Our planet is in an event phase, with a growing awareness and awakening in a world seemingly gone mad over power and money... Darkness and Light are polarizing in a time of decay... and there is hope for the new life that will spring from it.
What could be considered the core alignments of the end of the solstice/equinox precessional cycle from our local real space perspective happened on the December Solstice of 1999 and the June Solstice of 2001 with the full moon and new moon alignments respectively with the solstice sun and the center of the galaxy. The moon alignment connection with the galactic alignmnt is considered as the "second hand" of the cosmic clock of precession.

This point, calculated with modern instrumentation and interpretations probably would not have been evident to the Mayans.
The 2012 December Solstice Sun is aligned with the dark rift near the center of the Milky Way's galactic bulge, which is a visually stunning, and to the Mayans, a very important fixture of the night sky.
Logically, this "Era 2012" is a key astronomical phase in the precessional cycle and can be considered--from the viewpoint of the Northern Hemisphere Winter Solstice symbolism--to be the true end/beginning point for counting precessional cycles. Which exact point to pick is an interesting scientific, astrological, astronomical, intellectual and metaphysical topic for discussion.
Astrologically and astronomically (as they necessarily must merge again such as in sidereal astrology) this is the end of the Piscean age, and the dawning of the age of Aquarius. Continuing that logic it is not 'the end of the world' but rather a natural turning point in the rhythms of the cosmos. There is a viewpoint beyond even sidereal astrology, that of the true structure of the ecliptic constellations and the true positions of the planets & luminaries against them. John Lash says that the tropical zodiac reflects in our social selves, whilst the actual ecliptic structure reflects in our transpersonal self, how we relate directly to the universe.
Precession Of The Equinoxes
The precessional cycle is generally considered to be some sort of "wobble" of the earth, taking approximately 24-26,000 years to complete. There is the yearly tropical procession forward of the sun along the ecliptic through the Zodiac which provides the basis for Sun Signs, but the sidereal year is thought to be slightly off, causing the precession (though recent research shows sidereal & tropical years to be identical!). This long cycle is called the Great Year.
Recent research including ancient Vedic knowledge indicates that this precession is not caused by the earth's wobble at all, but rather the sun is in a binary orbit with another star, possbily an unseen brown dwarf, see here & here for more info. Some have claimed our solar system orbits Alcyone in the Pleiades (the galactic anti-center) which would put it in the correct alignment for an elliptical precessional orbit pointed towards the galactic center and anti-center. But I have as yet to see any hard astronomical data on the exact position of the orbit.
One concept of precession is that as the sun moves backwards through the Zodiac civilizations rise and fall, giving birth to concepts of the Vedic Yugas or the Gold, Silver, Bronze and Iron Ages. According to this line of thought we are in the last stages of the Iron Age / Kali Yuga, ripe for a transformation to a New Age.
The intertwined decay of the old and transformation to the new is happening right before our very eyes if we can allow the bigger picture into our imagination. But it will not be a linear progression from one to the next, rather a metamorphosis will occur, just as a flower metamorphoses out of a plant when it has reached its proper stage of growth. The physical and energetic astronomical/cosmic happenings around us are intertwined with our consciousness and the path we take through it all. Of course no distinct point event may occur in 2012, and that's OK too, but this world needs a change from the old corrupt systems now aiding the decay so it can't hurt hoping for and working towards transformation.
"We can visualize the 2012 Galactic Alignment in the following way: Position A is where the December solstice sun was in relation to the Milky Way some 3,000 years ago. Position B is 1,500 years ago. And position C is "era-2012", when the December solstice sun has converged, as a result of the precession of the equinoxes, with the exact center-line of the Milky Way (the Galactic equator). Notice that the place of alignment is where the 'nuclear bulge' of the Galactic Center is located." (excerpt from "What is the Galactic Alignment?" at Alignment2012.com) The 2012 Mayan Long Count Calendar count end alignment is the December Sostice Sun aligning with the dark rift through the galactic center nuclear bulge... conceptualized by the Mayans as both the Road to the Underworld and the birth canal of the Universe from whence the Sun is reborn. There are various important cosmic facts and theories which appear to be geared to this event period.
It now looks like Solar Cycle 24, predicted to be 50% greater than Cycle 23 * * * - which produced record X-class flares, will peak out around 2010-2012 as it reaches its maximum. This will cause significant interference in Earth's artificial electronic body as well as in the fundamental functions (oceanic & atmospheric currents, tectonic stress, etc.) of the planet itself. Is the sun freaking out?
There are also indications that SC24 may be a smaller cycle, and it is off to a slow start. We can only watch and see. Check the Portals page for current energetic status. The following Solar cycle 25 is already predicted to be the weakest in centuries, thus 24 is the opportunity for cosmic fireworks. Now it appears that the end of SC23 and the beginning of SC24 are overlapping.

Scientists have known for decades that the sun has been getting more energetic and watch it closely. Where one once had to get solar data feeds from the shortwave WWV reports and physically graph it (awaiting the later mailed printed reports), now the internet provides us as much data as we can assess. Destroyer of worlds: Astronomers overlaid 11 time lapse images of the rotating star system WR 104 to reveal a 30 billion-kilometre-long tail that billows out in a spiral around it. COSMOS Gamma Ray Bursts (GRB) from space have been known for a few decades, but are still somewhat of a mystery. You can monitor them in real time here.
It has been hypothesized that a GRB within 6,000 light years caused the great extinction at the end of the Ordovician Period * in the Early Paleozoic Erz.
There was recently (March 19, 2008) a powerful GRB 080319B that is recorded as the most distant visible object seen by the naked eye in the universe.
There is also a recent report (March 4, 2008), Binary 'deathstar' has Earth in its sights, on a potential GRB site between us and the galactic center. This 'deathstar' is the rotating star system WR104 seen at left. It is 8,000 light years away, and 25% of the distance to the galactic center.
There is a Hopi Indian legend of a Blue Star that will signal the end of our age and cause significant catastrophe on Earth. The amazing scientist Paul Laviolette has theorized that the cores of galaxies periodically erupt, in what he has termed a "Galactic Superwave" involving the blue-shifting of energy such as seen in Seyfert Galaxies (quasars). It is now believed that all galaxies are Seyfert galaxies, and it's hypothesized that the core explosions occur every 10,000 years or so (curiously putting it at roughly 1/2 of our precessional cycle!?). We are apparently due for a galactic core explosion which according to some will provide a blue star rising just prior to the December 21, 2012 sunrise. We'll know if a few years!
Cosmic Alignment... Solar Cycle 24... GRB's... Galactic Superwave... whew! It appears there are many curious astronomical facts surrounding the Era 2012 lines of thought. These facts underly our expanding understanding of our place in the universe. And that is what this site is all about, gaining all the information we can to find our true foundations of existence. Gold and the Sun have been linked through the ages. Alchemical gold is that which is within our being that is most durable, is purified in the fire of experience, is that which we use to deliver our highest creative expressions, and is carried with us beyond this mortal phase. We are in the dark/negredo phase of our planet's alchemical experiment: gold is now treated as a mere commodity whilst fraudulent worthless paper backed by bankrupt corrupt governments serves as the basis of world exchange; the lowest grade of electromagnetism drains the planetary vitality and pollutes the ether.
Alchemy is the science and art of the transformation of time, space, being and matter and is our pathway out of this dark age. We can escape this slave planet and return to the Magical Land, the Kingdom of God! It is not about shipping our carcasses in a saucer shaped tin can physically to another planet, rather it is about seeing the true nature behind appearances. It is about where we stand in our hearts and minds, the higher worlds are all around us, always. This site contains the axiomatic derivatives of my understandings of this condition and how I see them apply to both science and art. It is all about alchemical transformation and metamorphosis.

Metamorphosing into Homo luminous is the goal. The exact origins of that name are unknown here. Author & filmmaker Jay Weidner claims that it derives from Incan shamans, we may safelly assume the Latin nomenclature is not historical from their tradition.
Many traditions from the Western Mystery schools to the Taoist alchemical traditions teach of building the Body of Light and Dinshah's Spectrochrome system delineates the color-body relationships. Wherever derived, Homo luminous fits the thesis unfolding on these pages. Even if we only make it to Homo cogitatus it was worth the try!
We are already awake, it's just that our primary perceptions are generally interpreted and altered by our singular belief systems so we don't notice the higher pouring through manifestation. Once we get to the point of direct perception of reality beyond belief we realise our potential as agents of change and growth. I see this in so many people now it is hard to keep up on. So many ideas and concepts are floating around, 2012, astrotheology, psychedilic shamanism, holographic universe, quantum confusion, etc... To keep on point and progress there must be an ultimate system's logic to any presented concept.

This site is therefore not to rehash other's theories and work in a jumbled personal fashion, rather it is my humble attempt to add something to the mix from the viewpoint of my research and experiences. For now this site is an observation platform, a link to other researches; and an expression of how I see the interweaving thread amongst it all; a web log for my views and experiences with connections to those areas I'm interesting in following... I love going down rabbit holes.
Is this part of the "2012 Bandwagon" as some call all this? We're all on this bandwagon/planet going through the phase. Now is the time to express ourselves, when you're dead it's too late! The year "2012" is not the point or focus for this work, but it has become a popular attractor for awakening people, and the underlying astronomical truth provides the requisite validity for my usage. And I like the domain name as well from an artistic aesthetic consciousness perspective :) What I'll be doing in 2013 and beyond is still under consideration!
Where does one begin to measure a circle? Especially if that circle encompasses a wide range of concepts axiomatically derived from diverse perspectives: galactic, heliocentric, geocentric and anthropocentric, art, science, myth, history, etc.... Think of Alchemy2012.com as performance art. It will be growing and evolving as I try to measure and comprehend the infinite length of awareness...
